Since 2009, we have led the effort to educate and expand awareness for the sport of disc golf in Southern Maryland. We have been at the forefront of all disc golf course development projects in Calvert, Charles, and St. Mary's Counties, Maryland. We strive to continue improving local courses, and to assist with all new course developments within our reach.

Our Mission

The Southern Maryland Disc Golf Association is a registered 501C4 non profit and has been formed to help local communities and private land owners coordinate public disc golf course development and community interaction. We represent all that is good and fun about disc golf . Our members have a desire to teach others about the sport of disc golf both locally and abroad. We respect our courses, the land, the general public, and each other at all times and volunteer to help others learn about the sport when possible.

“Since adding the disc golf facility to the vacant lot behind John G Lancaster Park in Lexington Park, the positive use of the land and regular activities hosted by the Southern Maryland Disc Golf Association has
displaced the negative use of the land, creating a much safer and cleaner environment for public use. “
— David Guyther, St Mary's County Parks Division Manager
Disc Golf has been a wonderful and welcome addition to Charles County’s park system. At a relatively low investment, we have been able to offer this new park program and further our mission to provide diverse activities for our residents. Not only are we now seeing a new resident clientele, but we are also attracting disc golf enthusiasts from around the region. Uniquely, this has been accomplished by developing disc golf features in generally unimproved areas of the park, spaces that typically were not being used by our other park patrons.
— Tom Roland, Chief of Parks, Charles County
